My Lord,
I have the honour to state that I
was approached by Sir Paul Chater on the 23rd of May last
on the subject of the terms on which land to provide for
an extension of the No. 1 Dock of the Hongkong and Whampoa
Dock Company at Hunghom could be acquired by that Company.
2.
After further communications, I
apprised Sir Paul Chater by letter dated the 10th of
August, 1906, that,
t, subject to Your Lordship's sanction
being first obtained, I was prepared to grant without
public auction the triangular area required in connection
with the extension of the Dock Company's No. 1 Dock shown
in red on the accompanying plan and having an area of about
76,250 Square feet, as an extension of Kowloon Marine Lot
27 on the following conditions, viz.:-
(a). Term of lease 999 years, to commence
from the same date as the lease of
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
THE EARL OF ELGIN, K.G.,
&C...
